You must believe in yourself because self-efficacy contributes largely to success in life. If you don’t, who will? You are all you’ve got. So, don’t look down on yourself even if others do. You are amazing. You are a superstar. You’re not a typical person. You truly are a miracle. No debate, not even the ones in your head, can alter this truth. You are just as little or much as you think you are, not as other people make of you. In actuality, you weren’t made to do little things all your life. You were created to stand at lofty altitudes. Here are 10 reasons why you must believe all these about yourself:
- You were created in God’s image and likeness: Our Maker created the entire universe. In other words, He is the manufacturer of the world we live in. He did not make the trees to resemble Him. Other than humans, no other living creatures expressly resemble God or possess His qualities. So, as a human being, you are the champ of creation, because you possess the nature of God. Out of nothing, you can make something. In like manner, you can change any created thing into something much more amazing. You have everything it takes to accomplish that. You can design the world’s best automobiles. The potential to lead an industry is in you. You could become a president or governor. God Himself presides over the whole world. And you are like God in this world. Why then won’t you believe in yourself?
- You are alive: Life is mysterious. Being alive is a gift. As long as you can breathe, there is a surefire chance of getting to the top. The only person who has lost all hope, who is unable to fulfill their ambitions, is the dead. And for that reason, a living dog is preferable to a dead lion. Sometimes people commit suicide because of a missed opportunity. If you are grateful for your life, you will not consider something like that. It’s crucial to live each day as if it were your last. Do not, however, ever consider killing yourself. Everything you desire will happen at the right time if you are still alive by then.
- No one can believe in you more: Be adamant about putting yourself out there. Nobody is going to do this on your behalf. If you have a low opinion of yourself, you will wallow in obscurity. There is a greater likelihood that people will doubt you than that they will believe you. In reality, all you have in this world is yourself. Until you achieve success, no one will care very deeply about you. When you begin to doubt yourself or feel unqualified, you are putting yourself in a bind. For instance, you will bumble through an interview if you don’t think you’ll get the job. Your speech will reveal to the interviewer that you struggle with self-confidence. You must believe in yourself if you want to excel in anything.
- You carry the seed of greatness: According to Martin Luther King Jr., everybody can be great. Becoming outstanding is all within your reach. If you follow the example of great individuals, why won’t you be great? Are you prepared to accept responsibility? If so, you have started getting there. Your potential increases with the level of responsibility you embrace. Responsibility is the mother of leadership. You don’t become exceptional by mere observation. You should actively participate in what moves the needle. Willpower is a gift. Are you willing to exercise yours? Are you ready for more responsibilities? The potential for greatness resides within you. Why then won’t you believe in yourself?
- It gives you confidence: Self-belief boosts one’s confidence level. Imagine if you are a personal assistant to the president of a nation. You would be so confident in dealing with issues. Not so? What gives you that assurance? It’s because you have a powerful boss. You know the level of authority attached to your position. He is just a phone call away if you get into trouble. These facts charge you up. Similarly, if you believe in who God has made you, you will have an equal amount of confidence. It should be even higher, because God is all-powerful. Lack of confidence is a covert indication that someone does not really believe in God.
- It smothers negativity: Believing in yourself is the best way to quit being negative. One’s vision can be destroyed by negativity. Your environment might have planted some seeds of negativity. Mathematics may be challenging because your closest pals did poorly in it too. It may also be as a result of your own opinions. Even if you were born without much talent, almost anything can be learned. You may not necessarily have the resources or required background. Negativity has an impact on life’s consequences. You don’t need a science or tech degree to become one of today’s top computer programmers. Fred Oyetayo, a Nigerian lawyer, is a great programmer. Some of the founders of Fortune 500 companies were school dropouts. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are popular examples. They first believed they could succeed. Then they took actions that would make it possible. Also read our article titled See The Good.
- It sustains your joy: You feel better when you believe in yourself. Your supply of feel-good hormones wouldn’t deplete. You might not like your current situation. But being sad won’t improve it. Your frustration will rather grow as a result. On the inside, you are who you are. So, if you believe that you are amazing, you would be excited about it. You should only be sad if you refuse to take responsibility for your manifestation. In fact, you should be very sad about that. See yourself as God sees you. Then, work on becoming that in reality. If you do, you will be joyful! The Bible says that a joyful heart is good medicine, while a broken spirit dries up the bones (Proverbs 17:22).
- It eliminates the fear of failure: People with poor self-esteem are more likely to be the ones who are terrified of success or failure. What you think about yourself is not visible. It is right there in your mind. Therefore, you must first succeed in your thinking. External success would not be achievable without internal success. If you fail in your mind, you will surely fail. A successful person, or someone who would be successful, does not dwell on failure. However, you can study the mistakes of people who fail so as to learn from them.
- You attract like minds: If you don’t believe in yourself, you will attract failures into your life. If you believe in yourself, you will attract successful people. This is one of the laws of attraction. More so, in the natural order, like begets like. People that have the same set of beliefs create businesses or organizations. In other words, if you believe you won’t succeed, you are already a member of the never-do-wells. People who are similar to you will inevitably join your inner circle. Life is like that. You need to have a more positive self-image.
- It enhances your success: Success is a never-ending quest. You don’t want to begin and end. The goal of success is more success. You must continue to improve your thinking if you want to keep reaching new heights. Your productivity will continuously increase if you have a favorable outlook on life. If you get to a certain level and stop, you will not remain there. Rather, you will see a decline. Therefore, it is imperative to keep believing more and setting new goals. Keep in mind that to those who believe, everything is possible.
